As part of a North American tour in October that will take her to the continent’s major stages, Carminho, the princess of fado, returns to Montréal.
Accompanied by four master guitarists, she will present her magnificent self-produced sixth opus, Portuguesa, released in March of this year. The album incorporates all that Carminho has learned from her roots since childhood, respecting words and traditional language, while bringing a fresh and contemporary view of the world that inspires her.
Fado embodies the soul of Portugal and Carminho’s life. She demonstrates this connection through a powerful, deep, and passionate vocal performance. Daughter of fadista Teresa Siquieira, Carminho blends authentic fado, the sound that has accompanied her since childhood, with influences from Portuguese and Brazilian popular music as well as jazz.
Admired by fans at home and abroad, this 38-year-old diva is a Portuguese icon of international renown, and one of the purest and most passionate voices in the fervent and melancholic genre that is fado.
