Following in the footsteps of her father and guru, the legendary master of the sitar, Ravi Shankar, Anoushka has established herself as one of the foremost classical sitarists on the world stage. Her creative talent as an innovative and original composer has been affirmed through her blending of musical genres, including flamenco, jazz, electronica and Western classical music.
Among various accolades, she has been thrice nominated for a Grammy in her young and fruitful career. In 2011, her sixth album, Traveller, released on the presitgious Deutsche Grammaphon label was a critically-hailed exploration of Indian classical music and Spanish flamenco, music which was performed live around the world.
Anoushka has collaborated with numerous reputed artists including Sting, Herbie Hancock, Lenny Kravitz, Buika and of course, her sister Norah Jones. Norah has contributed her vocal talent to songs on Anoushka’s new album, Traces of You, released this October on Deutsche Grammaphon, to which she pays homage to their recently deceased father. This exceptional concert by an exceptional artist showcases the music of this opus and features Anoushka’s ever-increasing versatility and lyricism on sitar, accompanied by world-class performers on Indian and Western instruments.
